Start-up aid for recognised asylum seekers

The 150 about asylum seekers in St. Georgen an der Gusen, Langenstein and Luftenberg are lucky. While they wait for their official asylum decisions, the association Me&You, together with Volkshilfe (“People’s Aid”) and Diakonie, accompany and support their arrival, their stay, their coming into contact with the locals – and everybody’s getting along together. If asylum is granted, then association members help find affordable lodging in the vicinity. They will pre-finance – interest-free and on the basis of donations – the security deposit for the apartment. Repayment, so far problem-free, happens in instalments. Because: without microcredit – no apartment; and without apartment – no future.
