§4 of the Viennese Care and Nursing Home Law defines the rights of those who live in care or nursing homes for the elderly. The residents of ‘Assisted Living Kabelwerk' are to now appropriate these rights in a very concrete sense. Together, the twelve to thirteen members of each of the five assisted living communities translate the twenty-one rights accorded them by law into their assisted everyday lives. What do we mean by that concretely? What do we and what do our carers have to do so that we live and experience our rights well or better? Care work is thus developed, continually, and step by step. True to the motto “Nothing about us without us”.
